Burley's Hitch Alt Adapters enable use of the standard Burley hitch on bicycles that have rear dropouts that don't allow normal installation of the hitch (the dropouts are the parts of the frame where the rear wheel is attached). This type of adapter is installed in place of the non-drive (left) side axle nut and once it's in place, the Burley hitch is installed to the adapter.
I have a 'cross bike with uniquely shaped dropouts so the hitch doesn't fit without this adapter. This adapter does just what it's supposed to do, pushing the hitch slightly out from the frame/dropout allowing me to attach the hitch and trailer without any interference. The only negative is purely aesthetic, forcing me to switch my quick release lever to the drive-side of the frame. I prefer it on the non-drive side, but this makes no difference in function or performance. In my opinion, it's a small price to pay for being able to use the Burley trailer without needing a second, dedicated bike for trailer duty.
Bottom LineYes, I would recommend this to a friend
